We ask our patients for insurance information on a daily basis, and the most common response? "I have insurance, but it doesn't cover eyes." Wait! There's more you need to know about your insurance.
Our doctors perform comprehensive eye examinations when you are seen. An exam of the health of your eyes can help the doctor know more than you might think - it can determine your new eye glass or contact lens prescription, but did you know an eye exam can also show the doctor if you have: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, different types of cancer, and other health disorders?
Since the doctor is examining the health of your eyes along with your prescription, your health insurance may cover a portion of your eye exam! You may still be responsible for the refraction (when the doctor determines your prescription; the "which is better, one or two?" part of the exam) and copays or deductibles.
Our office is happy to help you learn how your insurance will help you. Call our office today at 352-512-0560 to schedule your eye exam and learn what your out of pocket would be. Find out what the health of your eyes can help the doctor SEE about you today!
